DISRUPTION
Fall 2024 - for TAM 3037 Flat Pattern Design
Around the time I designed this collection, I had become very interested in camouflage and the design philosophies surrounding it. A major indicator of a camouflage pattern's efficacy is how well it disrupts the wearer's figure in their environment. Camouflage is entirely functional - it doesn't seek to highlight or exaggerate the body like the fashion I had come to know, but to conceal it entirely and merge the wearer with their surroundings.
REVERSIBLE JACKET
When designing this jacket, what I had in mind was not military use, but rather the needs of the average prepared citizen. Many preppers own a full kit of camouflage clothing and gear which suits their environment, with the belief that it may be necessary to flee into the wilderness for their own safety. Camouflage is great for blending into nature, but for someone who wants to blend into a crowd just as easily, camo may have the opposite effect. This jacket allows for both, featuring MultiCam Tropic on one side and a solid forest green on the reverse.* This jacket's other features include a fully reversible design with no visible seams on either side, vertical channel quilting for added durability, patch pockets on both sides, and metal snap closures.

PANELED PANTS
These pants expand on a concept I developed for my 2024 FALSU collection, featuring panels on the outside of each leg that extend down from the waist. The panels are attached at the waistband and are loosely secured with straps around the ankle and thigh, but are otherwise able to move freely. This allows them to take various shapes depending on body movement and position, distorting the figure and adding to the disruptive capabilities of the camouflage. Like the jacket, these pants are made of a nylon Cordura fabric in MultiCam Tropic, allowing them to be worn as a matching set. In addition, these pants feature a matching belt, zipper fly, button closure, and both front and back pockets.

GHILLIE SKIRT
A ghillie suit is designed to disrupt the wearer's body in three dimensions using textile materials that are physically shaped like foliage, as opposed to standard camouflage patterns which only operate in two dimensions. Ghillie suits are especially effective when the wearer remains stationary, though they're not often used for any operation that requires extended periods of movement due to their weight and bulk. For this skirt, however, I chose a more simple type of ghillie fabric made of a lightweight nylon fabric with wavelike cutouts, so movement is not an issue for the wearer.

TIERED DRESS
This dress was loosely inspired by plate carriers vests, though only in appearance rather than function. It features shoulder strap cutouts and an asymmetrical, layered skirt. Although I did not develop it past the muslin sample, I will likely expand on this design on the future.
